1. The focus is on health, energy, vitality and strength rather than on weight loss, dress size and looking like someone else.
2. They don’t ignore hunger. Hunger is a signal that it is time to eat, but not overeat. Skipping meals is out. Breakfast is always IN!
3. Exercise is a must, a sustained fixture that never gets bumped for a sedentary activity. There is always time for exercise.
4. The lean person eats intelligently, not mindlessly. This means hunger and energy needs are the cues for eating, rather than some passive activity like sitting at the computer, watching TV, or socializing.
5. Sipping water throughout the day is a must.
6. Lean people do not skimp on sleep. They plan their schedule in advance to guarantee 7-8 hours of sleep a night.
7. The lean person thinks in terms of experiencing the taste of a high calorie, fattening food, rather than experiencing the quantity of this food. Experiencing the taste and texture trumps devouring the quantity, hence that urge for chocolate is satisfied with small squares of chocolate, rather than a triple decker wedge of cake.
8. Exercise always includes strength training and flexibility training.
